Compression Molding (BMC/SMC)

Bulk Molding Compound (BMC) and Sheet Molding Compound (SMC) are ready to mold glass-fiber reinforced polyester material. They are molded into shape by placing the composite material directly into a heated metal mold, then being softened by the heat and forced to conform to the shape of the mold as the mold closes. It is widely used to produce medium voltage insulating components such as support insulators or pushrods.
